Top Trends for a Modern Wedding: What's “In” for This Year

I would describe myself as someone who enjoys a blend of what’s trending and the classics. I think wedding details lately are a mix of both. It's hard to say these looks are “trending” when they are really just that classic elegant style coming back around. A few that I am currently obsessing over are:

1,) Trending Cocktails: Creating custom drinks that reflect a couple's personalities or the story of their relationship adds a unique touch to weddings. Earlier this year, the Champagne Tower made a splash, providing fantastic photo opportunities and dynamic action shots for couples. I hope this trend continues throughout the year. However, the trendiest drink of 2024 is the espresso martini—though not the kind Sabrina Carpenter sings about. It's easy to make, instagram worthy, and enjoyable to sip, offering a much-needed energy boost for you and your guests as the reception heats up. Yes, I have even seen the espresso martini tower, and that just makes me nervous around a white dress, you might want to proceed with caution. Just don't forget to top it off with three espresso beans, symbolizing health, wealth, and prosperity.

2,) Trending Wedding Looks: The modern crepe wedding dress keeps coming back for more year after year, all thanks to Megan Markle for starting one of my favorite trends that keeps gracing our bridal stores every season. They truly keep coming out with new designs, more unique necklines, silhouettes, and daring low backs. There is a dress for everyone in what some might say is an unflattering fabric choice, but I just think you get what you pay for. The better quality the better fit.

Statement Accessories: A strong 2023 trend in bridal fashion was the larger than life veils and dress extending capes, good news, those are here to stay in 2024. With wedding dresses getting bolder and larger, you need a veil that accentuates the drama you are after.

3,) Clean Lines and Simple Decor: If you got married sometime in the early 2010’s you remember the “scatter” look for tables, some sort of decor scattered across reception tables. I hope that’s far far away from us now.

Black and white has made a huge comeback after so many years of colors. Modern table settings have this minimal but indulgent effect. Plenty of large blooms surrounded by metiulous tablescapes as the back drop. I personally will never get tired of seeing a classic black and white wedding, I truly think it makes the happy couple stand out even more in pictures.

4,) Minimalist Wedding Cakes: As a personal fan of the grand and towering skyscraper wedding cake, I admire their stunning visual impact. However, there’s an undeniable charm in a clean, all-ivory four to five-tier cake that speaks to the beauty of simplicity. This minimalist design not only makes the cake easier to create and execute, but it also minimizes the risk of any unwanted surprises. Adorn it with soft ivory flowers or a sweet fondant bow, and you have a cake that is both elegant and heavenly. Each slice offers a perfect blend of sophistication and taste, making it a memorable centerpiece for any wedding celebration.
